Cumulative time: 3h
Main activities: Unloading and checking the boxes
Great day today – the kit finally arrived, almost a year to the day since I ordered it. The delivery process was over pretty quickly. It was certainly less than an hour to unload although the driver stood to chat as he had done several builds for Caterham in the past. Lots of good advice was forthcoming.
I was glad I had asked a friend to help out as, even with three of us, it was quite an effort to unload everything out of the van. The engine definitely needed three, as did the car body.

I have some space in the house at the moment, so all of the boxes came inside which will allow me to go through the contents in the warm. I was surprised how few boxes there actually were.

The engine / gearbox assembly has gone on a small wheeled truck and left outside for the moment. I will cover it with a tarpaulin until it is needed.
I was told that everything has been delivered – no waiting for missing inventory. The boxes are reasonably well labelled but it was certainly worth opening each to see the contents. One box contains all the nuts and bolts etc so I have distributed them amongst the appropriate box containing the item that needs to be fixed with them. I am not going to go through each one and count the number of washers etc to make sure they tally.
I did notice that I was given version 1.1 of the Assembly Guide (as an A3 hard copy), although version 1.2 is available on the Caterham website.
The finish on the car is really nice and I feel very happy about my choice of colours and trim.
